Title Environment Social Safeguards/Gender Specialist (Re-advertised)
Description The ESS/Gender Specialist is responsible for: • Support the implementation of the FDB and GCF ESS and gender policies, in particular as these relate to the implementation of the AgroPV Project in Ovalau and the development and implementation of additional future GCF financed projects. This includes in particular: o Ensure that ESS and gender management processes and procedures include in the FDB’s ESS and gender policies are implemented, documented and followed up. o Ensure that agreed ESS and gender mitigation actions at project level will be implemented, documented and tracked. o Support and facilitate any monitoring and evaluation activity that is required by the GCF and as it relates to ESS and gender risks and safeguards. o Ensure that external communication related to ESS and gender risks and safeguards and as is required by the GCF is being implemented, tracked and followed up in line with the FDB ESS and gender policies. • Support the categorization of ESS risks, the elaboration of environmental and social action plans, as well as of gender assessments and action plans for new GCF funded projects the FDB will develop. • Contribute to mandatory reporting to the GCF as regards the FDB’s annual accreditation status updates and re-accreditation, in particular as regards ESS and gender. • Support the occasional updating of FDB ESS and gender policies and procedures in line with evolving GCF best practice.
Qualification Master’s Degree in a relevant field (environment or climate change, development economics, development studies, gender studies)
Experience • Experience in ESS and gender management in donor funded projects. • Knowledge of the GCF and FDB ESS & gender procedures is considered an advantage. • In addition, the following skills are required: interdisciplinary thinking, proactive work style, team integration, excellent communication skills, excellent command of English, relationship building, persuasive influencer and demonstrate ability to learn and grow on the job with little supervision.
